Background
The Gupta empire was a big part of India's history. It was told to have started as a wealthy family from either Magadha or Prayaga. Later during third century, the family had rose until it was able to claim the rulership of Magadha. Later on the third king, Chandra Gupta I, was given credit for founding of the Gupta dynasty in 320 CE. Later down the road ending in 550 CE. The Gupta period of India was not characterizing by wealth or trade, it was a creative period. The Gupta empire was defined by flourishing arts, and fabulous literature, and amazing scholars. The Gupta empire was also called the “Golden Age”. During the Gupta empire education was important and this is when the Nalanda University was built. It was the center for education at the time. Not only was education a big factor during this time but the arts were too. This is when the Ajanta paintings were created. The paintings were very famous during this age. Now military during this time had its positives and negatives. The military had knowledge of siegecraft, catapults, and other sophisticated war machines as a positve side. On the other hand the invaders had advanced weapons compared to the Gupta's. Causing th military to be very weak. The Gupta empire was very big in educationa and arts, but not much in military. Even though the emperors Chandragupta, Samdragupta, Chandragupta II, Kamaragupta, Skadagupta, and much more took place to improve the Gupta empire.
